Get ready to witness the future of technology unfold right before your eyes, because the 2024 FIRST® Robotics Competition NYC Regional is just around the corner! From April 5th to 7th, thousands of high school students from New York City and around the world will gather at The Armory to showcase their incredible creations after six weeks of intense designing, building, and coding.
This isn't just your average competition; it's a showcase of talent, creativity, and innovation that goes beyond the arena. As Michael Zigman, our CEO, puts it, “What we do goes beyond the competition. We empower young people with the skillset and mindset for success. While not every robotics team can win, every student does.”
This 2023-2024 arts-inspired robotics season, FIRST® IN SHOWSM presented by Qualcomm, celebrates the roles our STEM skills play in the arts and design. In CRESCENDOSM presented by Haas, FIRST Robotics Competition teams will use their STEM skills and creative power to turn up the volume as they design, build, and program their robots for action-packed gameplay.
Fifty teams of students and technical mentors will be showcasing their skills in science, mathematics, and technology, all while diving headfirst into the thrilling robot game. As they navigate through the competition, these teams will not only vie for honors and recognition but also demonstrate design excellence, competitive play, and sportsmanship. But it doesn't stop there! Wander around the pits and you’ll find incredible swag, as well as opportunities to hear firsthand about the amazing outreach and community service initiatives undertaken by each team.
A huge thank you goes out to the community that is making this event possible including the volunteer-run planning committee that has worked tirelessly to make the event run smoothly; Bloomberg for bringing in countless volunteers and providing event support; Con Edison for supplying their Machine Shop for students to use during the event; and to all of the coaches, mentors, and volunteers who make our programs incredible.
